Hailed as ‘one of the most outstanding artists of our time’ by the Berlin Morning Post, the Australian flautist and Artistic Director of the Snow Concert Hall, closes our season with My Paris – a concert whose accompanying album was Amazon Number 1 Best Seller world wide.

Ana is the most sought-after flautist of her generation and in her short stellar career has appeared as soloist in the world’s most prestigious concert halls, including Philharmonie Berlin, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Wigmore Hall London, and Munich Philharmonie Gasteig, Liszt Academy Budapest, Prinzregententheater Munich to name a few.

Having made waves in Europe with her award wining albums and stellar solo career she is the first female flautist in history to perform so extensively as a soloist.

Ana’s latest album My Paris which accompanies this enchanting concert, takes us on a seductive journey through the large concert halls and alluring bohemian cafés of Paris’s Belle Epoque, where she awakens the spirit of the greatest writers and composers of the time.

Attracting unbridled attention for her ‘crystal-clear’ and ‘velvety tone’ (NDR Kultur), ‘superior, masterful technique’ (Fono Forum), ‘feathery-light playing’ (Der Spiegel), and ‘unobtrusive virtuosity’ (Pizzicato), Ana has been named “The New Wonder-Flautist” by one of Germany’s leading newspapers (Welt am Sonntag).

The concert programme is a perfectly woven together journey of the music of the French impressionists and has been performed to huge acclaim in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Bonn, London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Lviv, Oslo, and Cologne to name a few.

ANA DE LA VEGA
FLUTE

Australian flautist Ana de la Vega has been named “The New Wonder-Flautist” by one of Germany’s leading newspapers (Welt am Sonntag), and the Berlin Morning Post has written “Critics are unanimous that she is one of the most outstanding artists of our time”.

Recently leaping onto the international classical music scene Ana’s playing has attracted unbridled attention world wide for her ‘crystal-clear’ and ‘velvety tone’ (NDR Kultur), ‘superior, masterful technique’ (Fono Forum), ‘feathery-light playing’ (Der Spiegel), and ‘unobtrusive virtuosity’ (Pizzicato).

Ana is the most sought after flautist of her generation worldwide and in her short stellar career has appeared as soloist in the world’s most prestigious concert halls, including Philharmonie Berlin, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Wigmore Hall London, and Munich Philharmonie Gasteig, Liszt Academy Budapest, Prinzregententheater Munich to name a few.

She has been invited as soloist with leading orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra, German Chamber Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, Cologne Chamber Orchestra. Szczechin Philharmonic, Bremen Philharmonic, Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie, and the Trondheim Soloists.

Her debut recording of Mozart and Myslivecek flute concertos with the English Chamber Orchestra rocket started her career, winning Classic FM’s ‘Best Album’s of 2018’, reaching No.1 on Amazon’s Best Seller charts, and winning CD of the week in 11 countries. Her most recent album (her fourth) ‘My Paris’ released worldwide in May 2022 also reached Amazon Best Seller No.1.

After 16 years in Europe Ana has decided to live in Australia and maintain her career from here. This year alone she has been to Europe 5 times on tour having returned from Budapest, her latest tour, last week. In coming weeks she will perform as soloist with the Auckland Philharmonic, and soon after will return to Europe twice to perform in the major German festivals – Rheingau and Mosel.

ARTE TV, the worlds most important cultural TV channel made a documentary on Ana’s life called ‘Ana de la Vega und die Flöte’. This traces the Cinderella story of a girl from a farm in southern New South Wales, who followed a dream to the world’s greatest concert halls in Europe. The documentary has been shown countless times in Europe and Scandinavia and has recently been bought by Unitel, America’s largest TV distribution company. ARTE made a second documentary on Ana and Bach’s Brandenburg concertos to similar success. She will make her third film for ARTE in July this year at the Rheingau Festival as a presenter and soloist for the prestigious German event.

Ana is committed to bringing her expertise, collaborators and passion for classical music to Australian audiences and is delighted to have the opportunity to do this with the Snow Concert Hall.

Ana is the worldwide ambassador for Altus Japanese Handmade flutes.
